Still Heard Round the World: A Celebration of Music Written by and for Women

Still Heard Round the WorldIn honor of the 250th anniversary of the historic battles of Concord and Lexington, Concord Womens Chorus presents a program of women composers writing for womens voices. Featuring the texts of famous Concord (and New England) authors (including Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Lidian Jackson Emerson, Martha Lawrence Prescott, and more), the concert features Libby Larsens Concord Fragments, commissioned by the chorus in 2010; Melissa Dunphys Grown Wild, with text by Concord poet Melissa Apperson, commissioned 2020; Rosephanye Powells To Sit and Dream, with text by Langston Hughes; Tara Traxlers Birds of Passage; and a new arrangement of Ralph Waldo Emersons The Concord Hymn. The concert features voices, piano, oboe, clarinet, and violin.
